Stand Down

Women veterans Job Club this morning covered marketing ideas and documents needed for the Stand Down.

Veterans were asked to name six things and employer would know about the candidate by looking at the resume.  It was a healthy discussion of how a targetted resume can function as a 'door opener' for the veteran.

Coming up:
September 26 will be the last chance for the Job Club to meet as a group and prepare for Stand Down activities.  To prepare for that activity, please bring:
  • resume or resumes
  • dress as if you were being interviewed for a job.  If you do not have interview clothing, please let me know so we can assist you.
  • prepare to be interviewed by an HR professional.
  • Pre-register if you will be attending Stand Down.  pre-registration
  • if you want to volunteer, and many of you have indicated you would like to, volunteer registration is on this page as well.
Need help?  Speak up!  Together, we can do this.

Stand Down Preparations

As we prepare for the upcoming Stand Down, I would like to encourage you to be prepared.  Or, as a peer of mine says: Stay ready so you do not have to get ready.

  • Prepare your resume.  All employers for the Stand Down have been instructed they must accept your resume.
  • Prepare your interview.  We might be able to do peer to peer interviews during job club.
  • What will you wear?  Do you need a referral to Dress for Success?
  • Have you pre-registered for the Stand Down?
For job club this week, we will be in the computer lab reviewing resumes and I-Match.

Additionally, you can volunteer to assist others at the Stand Down as well.  Contact: Heather.Shea@ccconcern.org.
