10 signs you may be an annoying job applicant...

Because searching for a job is stressful and some among us have difficulty grasping that they could be acting in an annoying manner at various points of the job search process that is hurting their chances of getting a job, I've decided to infuse some mid-week humor into your lives as a teaching tool. In the vein of Jeff Foxworthy's You Could be a Redneck, here are 10 signs you may be an annoying job applicant.

1. Do you not heed the instructions given in the job listing? You could be an annoying job applicant.
2. Do you go to the corporate offices unannounced and ask to see the hiring manager? You could be an annoying job applicant.

3. Do you monopolize a recruiter's time at a job fair when she is making it clear with her body language that she would like to move on to speaking to the next applicant? You could be an annoying job applicant.

4. Do you hand out copies of your resume that are three or four pages long (with penciled-in corrections/revisions) in addition to your business card to every recruiter you meet? You could be an annoying job applicant.
5. Do you ask for detailed instructions on how to get to the interview when you could have looked it up online? You could be an annoying job applicant.

6. Do you go into an interview ill prepared and know nothing about the company or the job for which you are interviewing? You could be an annoying job applicant.

7. Do you not allow the interview to end by peppering the interviewer with question after question? You could be an annoying job applicant.

8. Do you follow up aggressively after the interview, leaving multiple messages for the hiring manager? You could be an annoying job applicant.

9. Do you focus on salary and try to negotiate too early in the process? You could be an annoying job applicant.

10. Do you contact the company and demand to know why you didn't get the job? You could be an annoying job applicant.
